"I can't afford marketing."
This one is a big, glaring, myth. While large corporations might spend a huge chunk of change on a marketing team, this is not the only way to grow your business. Hiring a Marketing Consultant = Instant Results
This is another misconception. While a new marketing plan can bring some instantaneous results (new Facebook likes, new web traffic, etc.) the true benefits of having a marketing plan for your business usually take a while to show up. We have had many clients become discouraged or disappointed when they don't see results in the first 2-5 months of marketing and decide to give up altogether. We hate seeing business owners fail to reach their full potential simply because they didn't understand that marketing takes time. Marketing is not a pay now, buy now deal; rather, it's an investment in the future of your business.
"It will take too much time."
While we can't speak for all marketing companies, at Newton Peach Marketing this statement is simply not true. Our goal is to take a load off of the business owner. We want to focus on growing your business while you focus on offering the best service or product you can to your current customers. For the majority of our clients, this means holding a routine meeting that can be as short or as long as the business owner desires. Meetings are usually held monthly, or bi-monthly, and are a time to discuss goals reached, where more work needs to be done, and to brainstorm ideas and desires of the business owner. Meetings can be done in person, over the phone, or even done through email if needed! Again, it's all customized for our clients. We take all of the information gleaned during these meetings and strive to make plans a reality. While we like to keep business owners involved, and welcome their opinions and critiques, we don't require them to actually take on any of the marketing work itself such as strategic planning, design, social media and web maintenance, etc.
These are just a small sample of the reasons we have heard from potential clients in the past as to why they can't do marketing. The reality is, you can't not do marketing and expect your business to grow and thrive. Getting your name out to your target audience and building relationships with customers is vital, but we also know it takes time and energy that you might not have leftover after all of your other roles.
